Gamma Sigma Sigma Symbols The Coat of Arms:
MAROON is the color of the shield and represents loyalty The SCALES stand for equality and justice The
STAR
represents the three principal attributes of perfect fraternal friendship
-loyalty, The CHEVRON symbolizes service to humanity
The TORSE, or twisted ribbon, alternate maroon and white, and stand for the inspiration of high ideals of the sorority Above the torse is a representation of the world within the clouds and two CLASPED HANDS, which represent friendship all over the world On the SCROLL beneath the shield appears the name of Gamma Sigma Sigma in Greek. The scroll means that one must prepare a sign of prudence and the reputation of doing good deeds. The Coat of Arms can only be used by activated members of Gamma Sigma Sigma. Members-in-Training do not wear or display the Coat of Arms, unless it appears on a National Publication. Ideals and Purpose: Gamma Sigma Sigma is based on the IDEALS of Friendship, Service and Equality The PURPOSE of Gamma Sigma Sigma shall be to assemble college and university students in the spirit of service to humanity and to develop friendship among students of all races and creeds. The sorority's MOTTO is "Unity in Service" The MISSION of Gamma Sigma Sigma is "Gamma Sigma Sigma promotes a lifelong commitment to service and diversity, in an environment of unity and equality, while creating opportunities for growth." Symbol Meanings and Uses: Gamma Sigma Sigma has multiple symbols which are incorporated into insignia or jewelry. The
COLORS
of Gamma Sigma Sigma are MAROON,
symbolizing service, and WHITE, symbolizing friendship and equality. These
colors can be found on the Member-in-Training Pin, the membership pin and the Coat of
Arms.
The official FLOWER is the White Rose. Contrary to popular belief, the National Mascot of Gamma Sigma Sigma is not a penguin! In fact, we have no official National Mascot. Several chapters, however, have adopted the penguin as a chapter mascot. The National Song of Gamma
